Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking an experienced LPN/LVN – Flight Medicine (SHPE) to provide clinical nursing and SHPE Program support at the 633d Medical Group, Langley AFB, VA. The LPN/LVN will perform general practical/vocational nursing duties while playing a specialized role in managing and coordinating the SHPE process for service members preparing for separation or retirement from military service.
Key Duties :
- Manage and coordinate SHPE requirements for separating/retiring service members.
- Review medical records, health histories, DD Form 2807-1, readiness requirements, and outstanding examinations/testing.
- Determine SHPE requirements and assist with applicable waiver processes.
- Coordinate SHPE appointments, consultations, labs, audiograms, and other required testing.
- Track cases and verify SHPE documentation is complete before final out-processing.
- Educate service members and staff on the SHPE process and applicable requirements.
- Maintain SHPE documentation, reports, SOPs, and program compliance activities.
- Coordinate with Primary Care Managers, Flight Medicine staff, and other MTF departments.
- Perform LPN/LVN clinical duties including patient intake/triage, vital signs, specimen collection, medications, treatments, patient education, and clinical documentation.
- Recognize urgent/emergency conditions and appropriately escalate care.
- Follow infection-control, patient-safety, DHA, DoD, and MTF requirements.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing-approved LPN/LVN program or qualifying equivalent military training.
License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted LPN/LVN license.
Certification: Current active BLS.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year functioning as an LPN/LVN in a SHPE Program.
- Minimum 1 year of LPN/LVN experience within the last 2 years.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen required.
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, 0715–1700.
- Eight-hour shifts with a 1-hour unpaid lunch;
- Maximum 80 hours per two-week period.
- No on-call or callback requirements.
Skills and Abilities :
- Knowledge of SHPE Program processes and requirements.
- Ability to review service member medical records and identify outstanding SHPE requirements.
- Ability to coordinate multiple examinations, consultations, tests, and appointments.
- Strong medical documentation and record-review skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with service members, providers, PCMs, Flight Medicine leadership, and other MTF departments.
- Ability to educate service members regarding SHPE processes.
- Ability to monitor deadlines and ensure timely completion of required separation-health activities.
- Ability to perform general LPN/LVN clinical duties safely and accurately.
- Ability to recognize urgent and emergent patient conditions.
- Ability to work within military medical policies, procedures, and established workflows.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
Immunization and Health Requirements:
Contract personnel must satisfy applicable MTF occupational-health and immunization requirements. Required documentation includes applicable health examination/immunization screening and proof of required immunity or vaccination.
Requirements include:
- Varicella – two doses or positive titer
- MMR – two doses or positive titer
- Tdap – required dose
- Current seasonal influenza vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or qualifying positive titer/documented process
- Tuberculosis screening
- Required physical/occupational-health documentation
- Respirator fit testing when applicable to the position
Required testing, immunizations, and related procedures are generally obtained outside the MTF as specified by the contract.
Compensation: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
