Job Overview
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified Licensed Practical Nurse – Pain Management to provide outpatient clinical nursing support within the Pain Management Clinic at Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC). The LPN will assist physicians, registered nurses, and healthcare staff in caring for patients receiving treatment for chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, nerve pain, and pain-related procedures. Duties include patient intake, medication administration, procedure support, patient education, monitoring, documentation, and coordination of care while ensuring compliance with DHA and military healthcare standards.
General Duties
• Perform duties within the scope authorized by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
• Follow all PWS, DHA, HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, readiness activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
Specific Duties
• Prepare examination and procedure rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Obtain and document patient histories, medications, allergies, chief complaints, and vital signs.
• Assist providers during outpatient pain management procedures and examinations.
• Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and clinic protocols.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions or changes in condition and report findings appropriately.
• Assist with injections, post-procedure monitoring, and patient flow management.
• Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, chronic pain management, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical record documentation.
• Coordinate referrals, appointments, and continuity of care activities.
• Maintain clean, stocked, and operational treatment and procedure areas.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to support patient care delivery.
Qualifications
Degree
Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing or Vocational Nursing program.
Education
Completion of a practical nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or an equivalent approved educational program.
Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of outpatient clinic, procedural clinic, or direct patient care experience preferred.
• Experience supporting pain management, orthopedics, neurology, or specialty procedural clinics is highly desirable.
Licensure
Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
Skills and Abilities
