Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Breast Care Clinic at NMCP. The RN will assist patients through all phases of breast care, including diagnostic workups, surgical consultations, biopsies, and follow-up care. The RN plays a critical role in patient education, emotional support, care coordination, and communication between providers and patients. This position is ideal for someone with compassion, strong organizational skills, and experience in women’s health or oncology nursing.
General Duties:
- Deliver care consistent with clinical privileges and hospital protocols
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to support patient outcomes
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation in electronic medical records
- Uphold safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies
- Participate in mandatory training and performance improvement activities
Specific Duties:
- Provide nursing care to patients undergoing breast health evaluations and treatments
- Educate patients on procedures, diagnoses, and post-treatment care
- Assist with scheduling, follow-ups, and patient navigation services
- Monitor patients during and after procedures such as biopsies
- Serve as a liaison between patients and physicians
- Support emotionally sensitive discussions related to cancer diagnosis and treatment
- Participate in case conferences and contribute to treatment planning
- Maintain supply inventory and ensure clinical readiness
- Float to other outpatient surgery clinics within the Department of Surgery as needed
Qualifications:
Degree:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Education:
- Graduate from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced certification in oncology nursing (e.g., OCN) preferred but not required
Experience:
- Minimum one year of recent RN experience in breast care, oncology, or surgical outpatient clinics
Licensure:
- Current, unrestricted RN license valid in any U.S. state or territory
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with sensitive health issues
- Knowledge of breast health procedures and patient navigation
- Proficiency in using EHR systems (e.g., MHS Genesis)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Detail-oriented and organized
Benefits:
- Competitive Pay - $38 to $42/hr
- 80 hours of paid vacation annually

Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- Shifts between 0700 and 1900 (7 AM to 7 PM)
- No weekends or holidays required
- Shifts range between 8.5 and 10.5 hours, including lunch breaks
Work Environment:
- Outpatient breast care clinic in a military medical center
- Professional, team-based environment
- Some cross-coverage within the Department of Surgery clinics may be required
Immunization Requirement:
- Must provide proof of immunizations (MMR, Varicella, TDAP, Flu, Hep B) and TB screening
- Must complete NAVMED 6260/91 or DHA equivalent health form
Security Requirement:
- Must pass a background check and credentialing process
- Up to 90 days for clearance and onboarding
