Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse – Gastroenterology (GI RN) to provide specialized procedural care in the GI Clinic at Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center. The GI RN will assist in pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient care, collaborate with gastroenterologists, and ensure safety and comfort for patients undergoing endoscopic and other GI-related procedures.
General Duties:
- Deliver care under the scope of granted privileges.
- Comply with all DHA, facility, and contract regulations and requirements.
Specific Duties:
- Prepare patients for endoscopic and colonoscopy procedures (review history, educate, initiate IV access).
- Assist during procedures by monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and supporting the physician.
- Recover and monitor patients post-procedure, documenting vitals and discharge readiness.
- Administer sedation and emergency interventions per protocol and certification level.
- Maintain equipment, ensure procedure room cleanliness, and document supply usage.
- Educate patients and families about pre-procedure prep and post-procedure care.
- Support GI consults, biopsies, and minor office-based procedures.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Education: Graduate from an NLNAC or CCNE-accredited program.
Certification:
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or Red Cross
- Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in GI, Endoscopy, or Procedural Nursing

Licensure:
- Active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong clinical skills in procedural prep, sedation monitoring, and recovery care
- Familiar with endoscopy and colonoscopy workflows and documentation
- Proficient in emergency protocols related to procedural complications
- Excellent interpersonal communication and patient education skills
- Skilled in using EMR and procedural documentation tools

- No weekends or on-call
- Overage Hours: Up to 60 annually
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for procedures, assist with patient movement, and wear PPE during cases
Immunization Requirement:
- TB test, current immunizations, and physical clearance required
Security Requirement:
- Must complete federal background check and obtain base access
Compensation: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
