Job Overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Nurse for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab CCRN) to support cardiovascular and interventional procedures at Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center. The CCRN will manage the care of patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic heart procedures, provide procedural support, and ensure continuity of care pre- and post-operation. This role involves collaboration across departments including Cardiopulmonary, IR, Vascular, GI, and PACU.
General Duties:
- Provide services within the scope of privileges granted by MOMMC.
- Adhere to the requirements outlined in the TO and DHA standards.
Specific Duties:
- Assist with cardiac catheterizations and support related procedures (e.g., electrophysiology, pacemakers, vascular interventions).
- Administer conscious sedation and medications during procedures.
- Monitor hemodynamics and interpret EKGs, vital signs, and lab values.
- Provide pre-procedure education and post-procedure recovery and discharge care.
- Operate specialized equipment such as intra-aortic balloon pumps and defibrillators.
- Assist in preparing and breaking down patient charts and documentation.
- Respond to emergencies with advanced cardiac life support and interventions.
- Float to support IR, GI Suite, PACU, and Cardiopulmonary Clinics as needed.
- Provide patient/family education and support care coordination with physicians.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by NLNAC or CCNE.
Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required (AHA/Red Cross).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended but not required.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of post-grad nursing experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in critical care or a Cath Lab.
Licensure:
- Must hold an active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Proficient in managing patients under sedation and emergency response.
- Experienced in use of hemodynamic monitoring systems and cardiac devices.
- Skilled in team communication, patient education, and clinical documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure in high-risk, time-sensitive environments.

Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, 0600–1630 (varied 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts)
- May float between Cardiopulmonary Clinic, GI, IR, PACU, Vascular
- On-call required (Monday–Friday 1630–0600, weekends & holidays)
- Must report to the hospital within 30 minutes when on call
- Annual overage hours: up to 100 per FTE
Physical Requirements:
- Must wear PPE up to 25 lbs for extended periods
- Must be able to stand for long durations and lift/move patients with assistance
Immunization Requirement:
- TB screening (2-step PPD), physical exam, immunizations per DHA policy
Security Requirement:
- Must pass federal background checks and obtain base access clearance
Compensation: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
